Terms of Engagement

Terms of Business

I act on the basis of these Terms of Business.

In order to carry out my function as a Notary Public, I expect you to provide me with clear instructions, to give me full and accurate information to enable me to carry out those instructions, to provide me with the supporting evidence I need to provide my services, including proofs of identity and, where applicable, your authority to sign on behalf of a company or other entity.

I charge fees either based on the time involved for the complete matter at a rate of £300 per hour or per document.  The time may include but is not necessarily limited to the following: making the appointment, correspondence and communication, document examination, document preparation, travelling time, waiting time, meeting and the time needed to prepare subsequent official records. I am required to keep copies of notarial acts.

My minimum fee is £85. I am not registered for VAT.

There may also be third party expenses, for example, the fees of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and Consulates and courier fees.

The fees are payable on presentation of an invoice at the end of the meeting.

My notarial practice is regulated through the Faculty Office of the Archbishop of Canterbury:

If you are dissatisfied about the service you have received please do not hesitate to contact me.

If we are unable to resolve the matter you may then complain to the Notaries Society of which I am a member, who have a Complaints Procedure which is approved by the Faculty Office.  This procedure is free to use and is designed to provide a quick resolution to any dispute.

In that case please write (but do not enclose any original documents) with full details of your complaint to :-

The Secretary of The Notaries Society

If you have any difficulty in making a complaint in writing please do not hesitate to contact the Notaries Society/the Faculty Office for assistance.

Finally, even if you have your complaint considered under the Notaries Society Approved Complaints Procedure, you may at the end of that procedure, or after a period of 8 weeks from the date you first notified me that you were dissatisfied, make your complaint to the Legal Ombudsman, if you are not happy with the result :
